After remodeling bathrooms across San Antonio in 2025 and into 2026, we've noticed clear patterns in what homeowners are requesting. Here are the trends we're seeing most — and what's actually worth the investment.
1. Walk-In Showers — Still #1 in San Antonio
The tub-to-shower conversion is still the most requested bathroom project we do. San Antonio homeowners — especially in Helotes, Stone Oak, and Boerne — are removing underused tubs and replacing them with large walk-in showers with frameless glass enclosures.
What's popular: curbless (zero-threshold) entries, large-format tile on walls and floor, built-in niches, and a bench or seating area.
Cost range in San Antonio: $6,000–$18,000 depending on size and tile selection.
2. Large Format Tile
24x24, 24x48, and even 48x48 tiles are everywhere in 2026. Large format tile creates a cleaner look with fewer grout lines — and it's much easier to maintain than traditional 12x12 subway tile layouts.
Most popular colors in San Antonio: warm whites, light greiges, and soft charcoal. Stark white is fading.
3. Floating / Wall-Mounted Vanities
Floating vanities make bathrooms look and feel larger — which is especially valuable in the guest baths common in older San Antonio homes. They also make floor cleaning much easier.
Pair with LED under-cabinet lighting for a high-end look at modest cost.
4. Warm Tones — Moving Away from Cold Gray
The all-gray bathroom that dominated 2018–2022 is fading fast. In 2026, San Antonio homeowners are choosing warm whites, off-whites, warm beiges, and warm wood-look accents. Brass and bronze fixtures are replacing chrome and brushed nickel in many higher-end projects.
5. Double Vanities in Master Baths
If space allows, almost every master bath we remodel in 2026 gets a double vanity. This is one of the most practical and high-ROI upgrades in San Antonio — buyers expect it in any home priced above $350K.
6. Smart Fixtures
Smart mirrors with built-in lighting and LED magnification are increasingly common. Digital shower controls, comfort-height toilets with bidet features, and motion-sensor faucets are no longer just luxury items — they're becoming standard in mid-range remodels.
What's NOT Worth It in San Antonio (2026)
- Soaking tubs — unless you have a very large master bath (100+ sq ft), a soaking tub rarely gets used and takes up valuable shower real estate
- Intricate mosaic tile patterns — beautiful but expensive to install and harder to resell
- Very dark accent walls — trendy but dates quickly and can make small bathrooms feel cramped
